Research priorities for alternative proteins in Europe
Our research priorities overview takes a look at the key bottlenecks in alternative protein research, and the most leveraged areas of study to move the field forwards. Currently available in English and Spanish.

Global demand for meat is growing, and industrial animal agriculture is already driving climate change and public health risks, so we need to transform how meat is made. Plant-based, cultivated meat and fermentation-made products can deliver the meat people want in a more sustainable way.
However, there are still key R&D and infrastructure bottlenecks that need addressing to ensure alternative proteins can deliver the same experience as meat and dairy at a price point that is accessible to as many people as possible.
This resource explores the priority research areas for each of the three alternative protein pillars, as well as highlighting key resources and further reading linked to each.
